A-Ha, who this reviewer had mistakenly believed were a one-hit wonder with their 80's classic "Take On Me", have just produced a new album. The first single, "Foot Of the Mountain", proves that not much has changed in two decades for the Norweigan A-Ha. As the old adage goes, why change a winning formula? The only problem is that, admittedly, initially it sounds a little outdated. Eventually though, the song gathers pace, the background synth kicks in and Morten Harket's distinctive voice soars. And ends up being a rather likeable tune. Sure, the lyrics of "Foot of the Mountain" aren't that deep and it isn't that groundbreaking, however it is heartening to see the boys of A-Ha being inspired so many years on from their initial success. 6.5/10 |
