It is hardly surprising that the masterminds behind pop music have seen an opportunity in Indian pop following the international success of the film "Slumdog Millionaire".

What is surprising, however, is that the formula has not proven to be more successful.  Here Ar Rahman lines up with the Pussycat Dolls to sing out "Jai Ho" in unity.  The lyrics, in keeping with the Bollywood theme, are not exactly complicated.  The biggest complication is the merging of English with the Hindi words "Jai ho".

In fact, the best use for "Jai Ho", would be to play it at a Bollywood theme party.  That said, the chorus "Jai ho... oh, oh, oh, oh", will soon be implanted into your memory in a similar fashion to the Baha Men's "Who let the dog's out".  And that is not necessarily a good thing.

Oddly, the video was filmed at a Vienna railway station despite featuring the dance from the last scene of "Slumdog Millionaire".  Perhaps Vienna was merely considered a safer option than Mumbai during these terrorist times.  But maybe it is the further Westernisation of an Indian theme that appealed to the producers?
